Descriptions of types of sports bets

Straight bets - A straight bet (aka side) is one of the most common forms
of sports betting where you pick which team will win the game. For baseball,
you bet on which team will win the game outright.
For basketball or football there will generally be a point spread as part
of the bet. If the number is positive (+) then you add the points to your
team's score. If the number is negative (-) then subtract those points
from your teams score. The side with the higher score after the points
are applied is the winner.
Totals - When you bet on totals you are betting on whether the total points
scored in the game will be higher or lower than the posted total.
Parlays - A parlay is a group of straight bets or totals combined into
one bet. For the parlay to win all of the individual parts of the parlay
need to win for the parlay to be a winner. You can mix different sports
on the same parlay.

Teasers - A teaser is a group of straight bets or totals combined into
one bet. The difference between a parlay and a teaser is that with a teaser
the line you bet against for each individual wager is moved to your favor
by the number of points of the teaser. If the regular line is -6 and you
have a 4 point teaser then your line would be -2.
Pleasers - As with a parlay, all of the individual parts need to win for
the teaser to be a winner. Teasers are not available for baseball and
you can not mix sports for a teaser since there are differing teaser points
for football and basketball.
A pleaser is a group of NFL side straight bets combined into one bet.
The difference between a pleaser and a teaser is that with a pleaser the
line you bet against for each individual wager is moved against your favor
by 6 points. Pleasers are currently only available on NFL regular season
side plays. Pleasers will not be taken on NFL totals, NFL preseason, or
NCAA football at the current time. If the regular line is –10 and
you play a pleaser then your line would be –16.
Other Pleaser Examples:
Odds:

Dallas is (-3) over Washington
Pittsburgh is (-8) over Cleveland
A "Two Team Pleaser" on Dallas and Pittsburgh would be:
Dallas (-9)
Pittsburgh (-14)

A "Two Team Pleaser" on Washington and Cleveland would be:
Washington (-3)
Cleveland (+2)
Action Points - An action points (AP) wager is a bet where the winnings
or losses are determined by how many points a team does or does not cover
the point spread. Action points wagers are available for most football
and basketball events. The player must choose the amount to be risked
on each point in the event and the maximum amount of points that they
wish to have count towards their winnings/losses (called a "point
cap").

Action points examples:

Line:

St Louis is (-3) over Oakland

Final Score: St Louis 27 Oakland 20

St Louis covered the point spread by 4 points.

An action points wager on St Louis for $100 a point would win $400.

(4 points X $100 = $400)

An action points wager on Oakland for $100 a point would lose $440.

(4 points X $110 = $440)

Line:

Kansas City is (-8) over Cleveland

Final Score: Cleveland 17 Kansas City 14

Cleveland covered the point spread by 11 points.

An action points wager on Cleveland for $50 a point would win $550.

(11 points X $50 = $550)

An action points wager on Kansas City for $50 a point would lose $605.

(11 points X $55 = $605)

All odds on action points are -110 each point on side wagers and -120
each point on total wagers unless otherwise specified.

Action points may not be played on first half or halftime lines.

On lines with a ½ point in them, each ½ point counts for
one-half the amount wagered per point. A ½ point in a $100 per
point wager would be worth $50.

The minimum "point cap" is 5 points. The maximum "point
cap" is 20 points.

The total amount that can possibly be lost will be deducted from the customer's
account at the time of the wager. This amount is calculated by multiplying
('amount risked per point' X 'point cap'). An action points play of $22
to win 20 with a cap of 10 points would have $220 deducted from a customer's
account balance ($22 X 10 = $220).

Netwriter - Netwriter is a Java based sports book interface that shows
line moves in real time. You can use Netwriter to make straight wagers.
In addition, you can buy points on football and basketball games.

Point buying - Buying points moves the point spread in your favor by the
amount of points purchased. Customers may buy points on football and basketball
game sides and totals only. First half & halftime point buying is
not available. Each point purchased costs an extra 10 cents on the moneyline
(except #3 in NFL). Point buying is only available online when the point
money is -110. The maximum point buy in football is 4½ points.
The maximum point buy in basketball is 2½ points.

Point buying examples:

Jacksonville is (-7 -110) over New England

A $110 wager on Jacksonville (-7) would win $100.

Buying a ½ point on Jacksonville would make the line:

Jacksonville (-6½ -120) over New England

You must now lay $120 to win $100 on Jacksonville.

A $110 wager on New England (+7) would also win $100.

Buying 3½ points (seven ½-points) on New England would make
the line:

New England (+10½ -180) over Jacksonville

You must now lay $180 to win $100 on New England.

Point buying in parlay wagers is currently only available with phone wagering.
The parlays will pay off at lower, computer calculated odds depending
on the amount of points purchased & amount of teams played.

The number "3" in the football is a key number. It costs an
extra 10 cents to buy onto and an extra 10 cents to buy off of the number
"3".

Sports bet payoffs

Straight bets - For football and basketball the payoff is $100 for every
$110 wagered unless otherwise noted. It is customary that when making
a bet that you put up the juice as part of your wager. Therefore, $110
will be wagered if you specify a $100 straight bet.

For baseball, the payoff is determined by the money line. If the money
line is a negative number then you wager the amount of the money line
for each $1 of your bet. For example, if the money line is -135 then you
would wager $135 to win your $100 bet. If the money line is a positive
number then you will wager $100 to win the money line. For example, if
the money line is +125 then you would wager $100 to win $125.

Totals - For football and basketball the payoff for a winner is $100 for
every $110 wagered unless otherwise noted. It is customary that when making
a bet that you put up the juice as part of your wager. Therefore, $110
will be wagered if you specify a $100 total bet.

For baseball totals the total points seldom moves. Instead, line moves
are done by applying a money line to the total. Therefore, your payoff
will depend on the money line at the time of the wager.

Parlays & Treasers - Parlay and teaser payoffs depend on how many
teams are in your wager. Payoffs for football and basketball are shown
in the table below. Click here for information on how to calculate the
payoff for parlays which include baseball.

If there is a tie in one or more of your individual parts then the wager
steps down to the next lower number of teams.

If a 2 team parlay has a tie and a winner then the parlay pays 90% of
the straight bet payoff except. However, when the winner is a baseball
bet the payoff is 100% of the straight bet payoff.

If a 2 team teaser has a tie and a winner then the teaser pushes "NO
ACTION". If a 2 team teaser has a tie and a loser, the teaser loses.
