Franz Beckenbauer, President of the World Cup 2006 Organization Committee, was named “Soccer Ambassador” and he is about to finish the tour throughout the countries participating in the World Cup.

He has accomplished his mission with total credibility and charisma, as a Foreign’s spokesman said, and also he has managed to personify the slogan chosen for the event: “A time to make friends”.

The “Kaiser” received these nice words just before departing to Australia, the last lap of his 32-countries-mission (including Germany), that participates in the World Cup from June 9th to July 9th.

Beckenbauer said that Africa has been the most amazing part of the tour that has had a total of 16,500 km until now.

He said Africa has had explosions almost everywhere because of the 30 years of civil war they have suffered. They suffer fights between families, tribes, groups… And, suddenly, soccer comes and everyone sits at the same table.
