Inside NBA

Rodman back on courts

Former 7-time NBA best rebounder Dennis Rodman, 43, just cannot leave the game. NBA champion with Detroit and Chicago, Rodman signed to play two games in January with the Long Beach Jam of the American Basketball Association. He played just a couple of minutes for the Orange County Crush in December before a knee operation and several days after injuring his right hamstring. Rodman is expected to come back onto court on January 10.

Indiana snap losing streak

The Pacers are a very regular team and the Pacers fans are really not used to seeing their favourites lose. On Tuesday night, Rick Carlisle's boys beat Atlanta 108-97 to snap a 7-game losing streak, their longest since... 1993!

Bobcats beat their past

Rookie Emeka Okafor's two free throws in the final seconds gave expansion franchise Bobcats the victory against the New Orleans Hornets on Tuesday night helping Charlotte's new NBA team to defeat its old one.

Okafor sensed it was a special win for the home fans: "Any win is important for us, but this one, you could just sensed the fans wanted it. They wanted us to beat the Hornets and we sensed it meant a lot to the city."

LA's soap opera still a hit

Day after day, Kobe Bryant and Karl Malone fuel one of the most tumultuous off-the-court stories in the Lakers' history! In our last episode of Inside NBA, Kobe was more or less apologising to Karl insisting he'd more than happy to welcome him back in the Lakers' roster. We can now say for sure that it will not happen after Bryant accused Malone of making advances on his wife during the game against Milwaukee on November 23!!

"Misery loves company," was the only comment of the mailman from his ranch in Arkansas while in the meantime, the former Utah forward activated contacts with the San Antonio Spurs, known as long-time Malone chasers.

Milestones

Utah Jazz coach Jerry Sloan sat on the bench for the 1,500th time making him the 10th coach to reach the mark while Timberwolves head coach Flip Saunders recorded his 400th career win. Minnesota's Wally Szczerbiak scored a season-high 28 points including the 5,000th point of his career.

Yao joins Tag Heuer crew

Chinese star centre Yao Ming has signed a contract with the Swiss sports watch brand Tag Heuer. Houston Rockets' Yao joins golf legend Tiger Woods, rising tennis star Maria Sharapova, Formula One driver Kimi Raikkonen and world free diving champion Tanya Streeter in becoming a member of their ambassador army.

Suns in best ever start to season

The 121-100 demolition of the Magic on Monday night contributed to the best ever start to the season for the Phoenix Suns. Mike d'Antoni's players currently run the league with a 18-3 record. In addition to efficiency, Amare Stoudamire's team-mates average a league-high 109.5 points per game.

That's all folks, Inside NBA is back in a few with more locker-room news from the frenzy league.
